Lewis had been trading for almost two years before he came to Traderscale — and by his own description he was “strategy hopping, impatient, sloppy and not consistent”. A former mentor pointed him our way, and the price of a $10K challenge made it an easy thing to try.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

It did not go smoothly. He failed his first challenge, then the next seven, before finally passing one — around eight failed attempts in all, which he puts down to impatience and overtrading rather than any flaw in his strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Four months after signing up, he took his first payout: $273.09<\/strong>. On its own that is a modest number next to the five and six figure withdrawals elsewhere on this site — but it is worth measuring against what it cost him to get there. Every challenge he bought came to $233.40 in total<\/strong>, most of them under $50 apiece. His very first payout didn’t just repay the account it came from; it repaid every<\/em> challenge he had ever purchased, and left him in front.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

That is the point of a $10K account. I heard about Traderscale through my previous mentor, who had nothing bad to say about the firm. Looking back, it’s hard to pinpoint one reason, but I’d mainly put the failures down to impatience and overtrading. Those were the biggest things I struggled with.<\/p>

I started with $10K accounts. Since progressing and passing Phase 1s, I’ve now purchased a $25K account and plan to continue scaling into larger accounts.<\/p>"},{"question_text":"How many funded accounts are you currently trading?","answer_text":"

Right now, I have 3 evaluation accounts with Traderscale and 2 passed $10K accounts.<\/p>"},{"question_text":"Roughly how long did each phase take you to complete?","answer_text":"

I couldn’t really put a fixed time on each evaluation because I only trade when I see my setup. That could mean trading once a week, once a day or sometimes even waiting much longer.<\/p>

I use the Daily, 4-hour and 1-hour timeframes to establish my overall bias, and I execute my trades on the 5-minute timeframe.<\/p>

I look for a previous session liquidity sweep followed by a fakeout. From there, I look for a 5-minute break of structure (BOS) and aim to enter around the 0.618 Fibonacci retracement level.<\/p>"},{"question_text":"What almost made you quit \u2014 and what kept you going?","answer_text":"

Failing multiple challenges was difficult, especially early on, but I kept going because I knew failing evaluations was part of becoming a better trader.<\/p>

It might not seem like a huge amount, but when you realise I originally paid around $50 for the account, that’s roughly a 5x return compared with what I initially put into the account.<\/p>

The biggest surprise was how fast and straightforward the payout process was.<\/p>

If anyone is on the fence about trading or trying a prop firm, my advice would be to take the leap.<\/p>

The biggest thing I wish I knew from the beginning is that trading is all about patience and consistency.<\/p>

Without those two things, it’s very difficult to become a successful trader.<\/p>
